Call of Duty is finally, finally leaving the previous generation of consoles behind with Modern Warfare 4, as Infinity Ward confirmed that the sequel would only be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. However, it’s also coming to Nintendo Switch 2, making it the franchise’s first title on a Nintendo platform since 2013’s Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Wii U.
To handle development, Infinity Ward is partnering with Digital Legends, which you’ll probably recognize as one of the many studios that worked on the now-defunct Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile. While this is a native version of the game – and not cloud-based, as some Switch 1 ports were in the past – pre-orders won’t be available on Switch 2 until later this Summer.
Interestingly, there’s nothing about its price, while other platforms will need to shell out the usual $69.99. A potential $80 price point incoming? Time will tell, but we wouldn’t put it past Activision.
On PC, Beenox returns once more to ensure support for “multiple” upscaling options, including DLSS 4.5 and Frame Generation. There will also be “expanded” graphics options and ray tracing across all modes for reflections, volumetrics, ambient occlusion, and shadows. Furthermore, you can adjust the volumetrics and expect “higher-fidelity VFX.”
And while it won’t be available for Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass on day one, XBOX Play Anywhere support is confirmed.
More details on DMZ will be revealed on June 7th so stay tuned. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23rd for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
