Having suffered through Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 7, the thought of Activision turning the next game’s campaign around seemed bleak. Well, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 might make me a believer, with its newest trailer introducing the Joint US and ROK Forces.
It starts with Park, a new protagonist, listening to some good ol’ Wu-Tang Clan. His earbud gets passed around by fellow squad-mates Jae, Cho and Moon before US Corporal Dunn says heavy metal is the way to go.
Right on cue, First Lieutenant West chimes in, calling the group “Nine masters of verbal warfare” and “a structured, disciplined, street-level brotherhood.” He then threatens Dunn if he disses Wu-Tang again. Infinity Ward even managed to get a “let him cook” reference in without it sounding contrived.
Again, it’s not an indication of how the entire campaign will fare, but thankfully, we can find out for ourselves. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s beta starts on August 21st for pre-orders, and for the first time in the franchise’s history, it includes a campaign mission. Not the one shown in the trailer below, but it’s still action-packed enough. The open beta goes live on August 28th for all platforms.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23rd for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. However, you can access the campaign (which is completely playable offline) one week early by pre-ordering.
