Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Tops US PlayStation Store Downloads for 2019

Grand Theft Auto 5 topped the most downloaded games list on the store in Europe.

It may be the new year but it’s interesting to look back at 2019 and see which games raked in the most success. For instance, on the PlayStation Store in the United States, Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was the most downloaded title. Europe told a different story – it was Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 which was the most downloaded title on the PlayStation Store.

This isn’t too surprising. After all, according to UK physical charts, Grand Theft Auto 5 was the best-selling game of the past decade in the region. Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare crossed $1 billion in worldwide sell-through as of December 2019. What is interesting is to see the differences between both charts.

NBA 2K19 ranked in third place, higher than NBA 2K20 which was at fifth in the US. Red Dead Redemption 2 didn’t figure in the US top ten but it came in at sixth for Europe. One thing is for sure though – Minecraft is fairly popular in both regions as the PS4 Edition ranked in second and third for the US and Europe respectively.
