Activision’s Call of Duty: Warzone is entering its third season with a revamped Verdansk map and remains as popular as ever with over 100 million players. Though the current focus is on delivering new content, developer Raven Software is working on an update to take advantage of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. This includes 120 Hz support and utilizing the SSD for faster load times.
Creative director Amos Hodge confirmed this to Charlie Intel in a recent press briefing, stating that a “dedicated technology team” was working on updating the engine for current-gen consoles. It’s also “investigating” an FOV slider for console players. This should help level the playing field a bit in cross-platform multiplayer.
Currently, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War supports 120 Hz, faster loading times and more on Xbox Series X/S and PS5. How long it will take to update Call of Duty: Warzone to include the same has yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months (along with news on the next Call of Duty, which is slated for release this year).
