Capcom just posted its financial results for the last financial quarter, ending December 31 2014, and for those of you who expected the beleaguered company to be in trouble, this may come as a shock- the overall results had them making money and being in the black, even as their total sales declined year on year for this period. This is because of digital sales, and of course, the release of Nintendo 3DS exclusive Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.
The report noted their continued growth in the smartphone and social gaming space, as well as signs of overall recovery in the Japanese gaming market. It also did note, however, that their arcade sales were sluggish, noting that area as a weak performer.
With major Capcom releases planned for this year, including Monster Hunter’s western release, the PS4 version of Ultra Street Fighter IV, and Street Fighter V, we might see the company slowly begin its long walk back to the kind of prestige it once used to hold, not too long ago.
