Ultra Street Fighter IV was recently announced for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Of course, one console has been left off the release cycle several times for the series: the Wii U. In fact, even the Nintendo 3DS received an iteration of Street Fighter IV, but the Wii U has neither seen the release of the original game or Super Street Fighter IV.

Unfortunately, Capcom executive producer Yoshinori Ono has announced that that won’t be changing any time soon. On Twitter, Ono answered a fan question and stated that there are currently no plans for Street Fighter on the Wii U.

Blame it on the lackluster third party support for the console, but Ultra Street Fighter, due for release in 2014, just doesn’t seem to be in much demand for the Wii U. Which is a shame, seeing as it adds five new characters, six new stages, new modes, gameplay tweaks and other additions to the addictive SFIV formula.
