In a recent investors call, CD Projekt CEO Adam Kiciński has put to bed rumours of Sony potentially buying the company, as reported by PC Gamer. Kiciński stated in the Q&A section of its investors call that CD Projekt is not for sale, and that the company wants to remain independent.

“Nothing has changed,” said Kiciński. “I can repeat what we’ve been saying throughout the year, CD Projekt is not for sale. We want to remain independent. We have, I believe, an excellent strategy—not easy to execute, for sure—but it’s very exciting to follow our own path.”

Rumours of a potential acquisition of CD Projekt first popped up back in 2015. Since then, the company has seen quite a few rumours regarding it being acquired by a larger company, with the most recent one surrounding Sony looking to bolster its first-person single-player offerings. Spotted by IconEra user Unchained, reputed Destiny leaker Liz indicated that Sony would announce a purchase of CD Projekt this weekend.

During its investors call, the company also revealed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been immensely successful, having sold over 50 million copies worldwide since its original launch back in 2015. The company also revealed that this brings the collective sales of the Witcher franchise as a whole up to over 75 million units worldwide.
