The Witcher Remake is an open world action RPG developed by Fool’s Theory and published by CD Projekt RED.
It is a ground-up remake of the 2007 game, The Witcher, and unlike the original game, is a fully open world title.
CD Projekt has shot down rumours of Sony acquiring the company, stating that the company wants to remain independent.
CD Projekt president Adam Kiciński says the remake is "based in big part on technologies from Polaris" and will be developed "partially in parallel."
CD Projekt RED confirms the upcoming remake will be a fully open world game. The developer describes it as "a modern reimagining."
Formerly known as Project Canis Majoris, the remake is in the early stages of development at Fool's Theory, led by ex-Witcher developers.
The former is by The Molasses Flood and promises an "innovative take" on the universe. The latter is an open-world RPG by a 3rd party studio.
