With five million copies sold, the most nominations at this year’s Golden Joystick Awards, and extensive acclaim from fans and critics, 2025 arguably belongs to Sandfall Interactive’s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. However, despite the sheer size and scale of the turn-based role-playing game, it seems there are still secrets left to discover.

When Eurogamer inquired about the same, director Guillaume Broche said, “There are, but I don’t want to say them because they won’t be secrets anymore. Maybe they have been found, but I haven’t seen anything about it. There are still a few things, yeah.” Funnily enough, Broche says that some details were discovered that “were absolutely not secrets originally. And we are just like, okay, cool. I guess that’s a secret!”

As for whether players succeeded in leveraging the game’s potential for “broken builds,” Broche said, “They are up to my expectations, which were very high. They destroyed the game very fast. My personal speedrun record was broken in one week, maybe even less.” He even admits that some discovered “crazy builds that even [he] didn’t really think about. It’s exactly what we made the system for.”

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. You can check out our review here. While Sandfall Interactive’s next title remains to be seen, it’s working on a free update that will add a new playable environment, enemy encounters and bosses for late-game players. Each party member also receives a new outfit, and there will be new secrets to discover. Stay tuned for further updates, including a release date.
