Code Vein is looking to inject some anime style into our lives when it comes out later this year. The game has a pretty clear Dark Souls inspiration, too, and something that it’ll have in common with that series will also be the difficulty. Producer Keita Iizuka spoke about the game’s companion and co-op features, saying that it should help players a little in all the dying they’ll apparently be doing.
We’ve seen some things about the game’s companion AI before, but in an interview that you can see below, Iizuka says that it’s tied into the game’s difficulty. He expects players to die “over and over again,” and that having a companion there can both help with the fight itself as well as with morale to push you forward. It and the co-op feature were two things he said the team struggled the most with in implementing. In co-op as well, having another player there can be a crutch in a particularly tough fight, but he emphasized that, similar to Souls, there’s still a lot on you to progress.
Code Vein comes out September 27th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Check out our interview about the blood-infused game to find out more here.
