Codename STEAM Gets Multiplayer Debut At The Game Awards 2014

Game release date also confirmed.

Posted By | On 06th, Dec. 2014

One of the most intriguing games of next year, and one of the most interesting ones Nintendo has done in years, is Codename STEAM. Developed by Intelligent Systems of Fire Emblem fame, the game represents an all new original IP from Nintendo, and a shakeup of the SRPG genre, by following in the footsteps of Sega’s excellent Valkyria Chronicles.

We’ve already seen a little bit of this game, back at E3 earlier this year, and then again at a Nintendo Direct last month, and the game also got its multiplayer debut at tonight’s The Game Awards. The multiplayer looks hectic, and there is the question of just exactly how all of it will be managed in a multiplayer match while also keeping games to a manageable length. Still, it’s good to see Intelligent Systems embracing multiplayer for their 3DS games- Fire Emblem Awakening, for instance, lacked any sort of meaningful multiplayer component.

The game was also confirmed to release on March 13, 2015, exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS. Stay tuned, we’ll keep you posted.
