Control is Remedy Entertainment’s latest game and it manages to merge together lots of different themes and styles the company has played with throughout the years. The publisher of the game, 505 Games, had their parent company release their financial earnings to reveal the game generated €17.7 million in revenue. While it’s impossible to know if that was disappointing without knowing the game’s budget, it isn’t nearly what you’d expect considering the game’s marketing and pedigree.

In an unusual move, the game’s developer issued a statement about the game’s sales. In a press release statement, they broke down the agreement with Digtial Bros. (505 Games’ parent company) and the revenue split as well as the deal made with Epic Games for the PC version’s exclusivity to Epic Games Store. They also say that despite what Digital Bros. reported, their own internal reporting shows revenue and profit increasing and that revenue recognition differed between their and Digital Bros., though they don’t go into details about how. You can see the full statement as provided by Yahoo Finance through here.

Whether or not this was Remedy’s way of calming fears that the game had not performed well or just wanting to clarify things, it’s still a pretty unusual move. Well, either way, the game’s post-release content is coming regardless of how the game performed. So no matter what, more Control is coming, and that’s something we can all agree is a good thing.
