Counter-Strike 2 limited test

After much suspicion, Valve finally announced Counter-Strike 2 for PC, over ten years since the release of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. It’s receiving several upgrades courtesy of the Source 2 engine and is launching this Summer. However, certain players won’t have to wait long to get their hands on it.

A limited test for the shooter begins today, with players evaluating a “subset of features” to help address any issues before the worldwide launch. Furthermore, Counter-Strike 2 will be a free upgrade to Counter-Strike: GO. Given that the latter is free-to-play, does this mean it’s being replaced? Valve hasn’t clarified, but your entire inventory will carry over.

All items are accessible in Counter-Strike 2 and benefit from the improved lighting and materials. While legacy models and finishes are supported, stock weapons will have high-resolution models, which affects some weapon finishes.

Counter-Strike 2 will receive more details in the coming months, so stay tuned for more updates and gameplay.
