While 11 bit Studios had announcements for Frostpunk 2 and The Alters at the Xbox Partner Showcase, it also revealed a new title – Creatures of Ava. Developed by Inverge Studios, it’s coming to PC and Xbox  Series X/S while launching day one on Game Pass. Check out the announcement trailer below.

As a “creature saver” title, it’s set on the titular planet where an infection threatens its inhabitants. It’s the player’s job as Vic to save the world’s creatures through non-violent means. Compassion is the motivation as opposed to collecting and/or exploiting them. Players must shed their connection to technology and learn the customs of Ava’s people, forging a connection with the planet.

Music plays a big role in this, and by using a flute, one can communicate with the creatures by imitating their sounds. You can also ask for their help in discerning puzzles and seeing the world through their point of view while using their unique abilities to interact with the environment. Vic also has a staff called Nafitar to cure the infection, which helps creatures rendered aggressive by its influence.

Creatures of Ava launches is out later this year, with more updates set for the coming months. Stay tuned in the meantime for more details.
