Despite being available for almost three weeks, Crimson Desert players are still working through the massive open world at a steady pace. You would think it’s because they haven’t been putting in enough time, but according to Circana’s Mat Piscatella, that isn’t the case. In fact, for the week ending March 28th – which began about three days after launch – it was among the most-played console games in the United States.

On Xbox, players averaged about 20 hours per week, earning it the top-ranked spot. It ranked second on PlayStation, with Path of Exile pulling ahead, but each player still averaged 22 hours. Piscatella also revealed that Crimson Desert is now in the top 20 charts when it comes to total weekly active players on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Keep in mind that this is just the average per user – some may have put in far more time than others. It makes sense considering Pearl Abyss’s action-adventure offers a massive world to explore, combining elements from Red Dead Redemption 2, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and more. Plus, there’s just so much to see and a compelling combat system.

That momentum has pushed Crimson Desert to sell over four million copies since launch, with the developer expected to announce five million sales soon. Meanwhile, patches continue to flow, delivering numerous improvements. Check out the latest here.

For the week ending Mar 28, Crimson Desert ranked 1st on Xbox in weekly hours per US active user (20 hours per active user) and 2nd on PlayStation (22) behind only Path of Exile.Crimson Desert also moved into the top 20 in US total weekly active users across both console platforms. Great momentum.
