Pearl Abyss has released some new gameplay footage for Crimson Desert, the first since last year’s impressive trailer. It sees Kliff venturing to the White Mountains to search for some missing children, encountering some bandits who are involved. Check it out below.

After laying the smackdown on them with fists and sword, Kliff goes up against the spirit White Horn. It’s an extensive boss fight over three phases, with the latter capable of hard-hitting charges, using its antlers as a weapon, and even conjuring a snowstorm to hide in. The player seemingly has a meter for special abilities, including hard-hitting slashes where sparks fly.

The boss fight is one of four that players can tackle in the playable demo at Gamescom. Whether the other fights will be revealed remains to be seen, but Pearl Abyss assures that this is “actual in-game footage and gameplay.”

Crimson Desert is coming to consoles and PC, with a release date still unannounced (though it’s reportedly launching sometime in the 2025 fiscal year). Stay tuned for more details when Gamescom kicks off from August 21st to 25th.
