Bloober Team confirmed that Cronos: The New Dawn would be showcased at Future Games Show, and sure enough, the developer released a promising new gameplay showing for the horror title at the event with a developer diary.

Cronos: The New Dawn features an alternate history setting that saw the world destroyed in the 1980s after a mysterious and apocalyptic event. Players play as a Traveler capable of travelling through time, with a bulk of the game set in a grim and barbaric future. In combat, the game will feature dismemberment mechanics inspired by (but not completely similar to Dead Space), while Bloober says it has also taken cues from Dark Souls in terms of the level of challenge on offer.

Check out the deep dive below, which also offers tidbits about the game’s weapons, enemies, combat, mechanics, and more.

Cronos: The New Dawn is due out sometime this year for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A specific release date hasn’t yet been confirmed. For more details on the survival horror title, make sure to check out our interview with game director and producer Jacek Zięba.
