CD Projekt RED recently hosted a financial call for its investors and analysts, talking more about its upcoming release Cyberpunk 2077. The title is out in April 2020 but given the project’s scale, it’s looking to be the company’s most important release ever. So of course, one of the bigger questions was regarding plans to release it for next-gen consoles.

This is regarding the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett, both which launch in Holiday 2020. The developer remarked that we could “probably assume” something was happening for the next generation. It doesn’t seem like it will be around their launch windows. As CD Projekt RED noted, “Of course, we do have insights on what’s around the corner and what’s happening with PlayStation and Xbox. We’re watching it closely and one may probably assume that at some point we’re gonna do something with the next-gen.

“However, we cannot really be very specific about what that might be, when exactly that might be. I will only safely assume that it’s not gonna be around the launch timeframe of those consoles.” Later, the developer said, “Our games were always ahead of technology. They always play best on strong PCs, so in many areas, we’re ready or almost ready for stronger specs. From a technical perspective, it seems to be doable.”

What about Google Stadia? It seems Cyberpunk 2077 won’t launch for the service at the same time as PS4, Xbox One and PC, arriving later instead. It will be full price and not included with any subscription. As for multiplayer, the mode is still in an early stage of development so no details were provided.

Cyberpunk 2077 continues to receive pre-orders in line with the publisher’s expectations though they’ve slowed down since the initial spike. A few days before launch will be the most important time just like with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. In that respect, expect much more information and gameplay footage in the coming months.

Cyberpunk 2077 releases on April 16th 2020 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
