To say that circumstances could have been better for CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 when it launched would be an understatement. Nevertheless, even with all the bugs, its removal from the PlayStation Store and refunds, it sold through over 13.7 million units in 2020. This is a company estimate based on information gathered from distributors, as per CD Projekt RED’s Investor Relations profile on Twitter.

It’s particularly impressive when you consider that the game launched on December 10th and was available to purchase for roughly 21 days. In terms of break-up, 73 percent of sales were digital while 27 percent was physical. PC and Stadia made up 56 percent of the sales followed by 28 percent on PS4 and 17 percent on Xbox One.

The last reported figure by the developer was over 13 million sold as of December 22nd, 2020. While more than 700,000 units sold in the remaining nine days doesn’t seem like much, the overall figure is likely to be higher when sales from this year are factored in. Currently, CD Projekt RED is working on updates and free DLC for the title, reaffirming its commitment to support it for years to come. Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions are also slated for release in the second half of this year.
