Charlie Cox, the actor best known for his role as Daredevil in a variety of Marvel’s productions, has confirmed that he is a cast member for a game developed by Sega. Speaking to IGN at New York Comic-Con 2026, Cox confirmed that the project hasn’t yet been officially announced, and said that it was “fun to do”.
“I did another one! It doesn’t have a name yet. I did a Sega one. I’ve done one since. It hasn’t come out yet. It was fun to do. It’s hard. It’s a whole different job, man.”
While Cox didn’t reveal any details about this project, he did share an anecdote from his time working on the project which revolved around a funny incident where crew members for the production didn’t know that he wasn’t American. Through this anecdote, Cox also inadvertently confirmed that the character he will be portraying in Sega’s project will be American.
“I’m not sure what I’m allowed to say, but I showed up for it, and I met them for the first time. They asked me to do this game, and so I agreed to it. Then I had to do 40 hours or whatever it was, and I showed up for the first day, and I was like, ‘Hi guys, nice to meet you! How are you?’ And all of them went, ‘…oh, he’s English.’ They’d hoped, they’d wanted him to be American. But now I’ve got to do 40 hours of lines I’ve not prepared in an accent. Yeah, I think they thought I was American.”
Cox has previously only worked on one game – 2025’s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. He played the role of one of the game’s central protagonists, Gustave. The role also helped establish Cox as a capable performer for video games when it comes to potential future projects.
As for what project he is working on right now, Sega has a number of confirmed projects in the works. However, considering the fact that, according to Cox, the game “doesn’t have a name yet”, his role is unlikely to be for upcoming games like Stranger Than Heaven, Persona 6, Alien: Isolation 2, or Virtua Fighter Crossroads. Rather, the fact that it doesn’t yet have a name indicates that the project is still quite early in its development.
Gustave, Cox’s last role, is a volunteer for the eponymous Expedition 33, serving as the main point-of-view character for the RPG’s earlier sections. The character was defined by his optimism about the potential defeat of the Paintress despite the rest of Lumière consistently growing more cynical by the year, as more and more expedition members are lost on a yearly basis.
In gameplay terms, Gustave had the Overcharge mechanic in the combat system of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, allowing him to use his engineering skills and swordsmanship to unleash devastating attacks by building up charges through his less powerful moves. Through this, the character is able to dish out massive single-target damage.
