While Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series of action-adventure games is well known for the escapades of Nathan Drake and co, one of the most well-known characters in the series, Sully, is also equally loved by the fans. Interestingly, it seems Sully may at one point have even been the protagonist of his own game. Recently, former SIE Bend Studio man Jeff Ross – who directed Days Gone and also worked on the Bend-developed Uncharted: Golden Abyss – talked about a failed project along those lines.

Ross recently spoke on the Sacred Symbols+ podcast (via VGC), talking about his vision of making an Uncharted spinoff with Victor Sullivan as the main character. He added that the game would’ve followed the character at the age of 25, and would be set in a very stylised world in the 1970s.

He said: “Victor Sullivan at the age of 25 in a very stylised world where… it would be around 1976 it think is where we figured out his age might be.

“He busted out of the Navy for reasons, and I thought seeing him young and trying to figure out his way in this world going from trying to be a soldier or you know a military man to now I’m just out on the streets and I’m gonna become a hustler.”

Ross also revealed that in his concept, Sully would’ve evoked Sean Connery’s rendition of James Bond, saying that he would’ve been “A young sexy Victor Sullivan, [who] to me, would have been like Sean Connery.”

Alas, this happened to be one of the many pitches which never materialized, as Ross also pitched to Sony an open-world Resistance game after Days Gone 2 was scrapped, which was turned down as well.
