Dead by Daylight - Silent Hill Chapter

You wake up every day with some degree of expectations of what will happen. Of course, depending on who you are, where you are, and how you live, those expectations are different person to person. I imagine though there are a very few who expected to wake up today to a reveal that the next chapter in Dead by Daylight would be Silent Hill-themed, yet here we are, as the chapter was announced and brings a setting from the original Silent Hill, Pyramid Head from Silent Hill 2 as “The Executioner” killer and Silent Hill 3‘s main protagonist Heather Mason, going by her birth name of Cheryl. Now, we have more details as well as a lengthy playthrough of the unlikely crossover.

IGN provided just over 10 minutes of gameplay highlighting the new map, a reworked version of one of the iconic locations from the first Silent Hill, and its new killer and survivor. Pyramid Head is one of the deadliest killers in the game yet, with an incredible range and the ability to conjure the mystical powers of Silent Hill to manifest trenches. If survivors get caught in them, they become “Tormented,” where they will be instantly transported to a hook when captured. Cheryl will have unique abilities when this curse happens, though they haven’t been specified.

To top all of this off, the game features a reworked version of the Dead by Daylight theme done by Akira Yamaoka, the long time composer of the Silent Hill franchise, as well as a member of Team Silent, the original development team behind the series up until Silent Hill 4.

Dead by Daylight is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC. The Silent Hill Chapter is running now on Steam’s Public Test Services and is set to fully launch on June 16th. Check out the gameplay video below for a taste of what to expect.
