Dead Island Definitive Edition PS4 Requires Download of Dead Island Riptide

PS4 discs not supporting multiple games cited as reason.

Dead Island Riptide (6)

Deep Silver’s Dead Island: Definitive Edition will pack in the Dead Island along with Dead Island: Riptide and Retro Revenge, a 2D beat ’em up style game. However, for PS4 users, the physical disc will only contain the first game. Dead Island: Riptide has to be downloaded separately via a separate code in the box.

As per the publisher on Twitter, “On XB1 it is on the same disc. PS4 discs don’t support multiple games, so there Riptide comes as a download code.”

Thankfully, Dead Island: Definitive Edition will feature some significant remastering of the previous games including better textures and a new lighting system. Will both games look and play better than Dying Light, which is also developed by Techland? That remains to be seen.

Dead Island: Definitive Edition is out on May 31st for Xbox One and PS4. Will you be picking it up? Let us know in the comments below.
