Dead Rising – The Original Game- Is Far More Full Featured Than Dead Rising 4, It Seems

Not a good look at all.

Dead Rising 4 ended up getting decent reviews, and selling well enough, but it drew the ire of a lot of fans in the lead up to its release. In hindsight, it seems as though that ire may have been well deserved. It was directed mostly at just how streamlined Dead Rising 4 was, getting rid of the signature elements that had made the franchise so beloved to begin with- and it seems as though in the long run, getting rid of all that made Dead Rising 4 a poorer game than even its ten year old forebear, the original Dead Rising that kickstarted the series all the way back on the Xbox 360.

YouTuber Crowbcat did a 22-minute comparison video of the original Dead Rising and Dead Rising 4 showcasing all o the various ways in which the older game is more nuanced, more complex, more feature rich than the current, just released Dead Rising 4 is. It really looks like a case of misplaced priorities with the newest game.

You can check out the video for yourself below. Dead Rising 4 is available on Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs now; it will be available on Steam in two months, and will later on presumably be released on the PS4 as well.
