Despite development still being in the early stages, Motive Studios’ remake of Dead Space has garnered a lot of attention. The team has already been revealed to consist of former Ubisoft and BioWare developers but the director’s role hadn’t been confirmed till now. According to his LinkedIn profile, Eric Baptizat is the game director and has been working on the project for more than five months now.
Baptizat is better known as the director for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and has been lead designer on other titles in the franchise including Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. And before one assumes that the Dead Space remake will incorporate microtransactions like other Ubisoft titles, senior producer Phil Ducharme has already confirmed that this won’t be the case.
The Dead Space remake is in development for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC, leveraging the SSD and 3D audio of current-gen consoles for a more immersive experience. Motive is also looking to add accessibility options into the mix to allow more players to enjoy the game. Stay tuned for more details on the same in the coming year.
