The Dead Space remake launched late on in January and was met by near-unanimous praise, and though EA has yet to give official word on how the game has done from a commercial perspective, details on its sales performances have been coming through from several markets.

In Dead Space and The Callisto Protocol, fans of sci-fi survival horror got two major new releases back-to-back, and though many might argue that the former is the significantly better game, in some regions, that doesn’t seem to have been reflected in its sales.

As per data provided by the GSD (via GamesIndustry), though Dead Space’s remake was the sixth best-selling game in European markets (not including UK and Germany) for the month of December, it has sold fewer copies in its first two weeks in the region than The Callisto Protocol did in the two weeks following its launch in December.

Dead Space’s digital sales are accounted for in this comparison, while The Callisto Protocol’s aren’t making the gap between the two even wider. That said, it’s worth pointing out that unlike The Callisto ProtocolDead Space is not a cross-gen title, while the former also released during the year-end season, when software sales are typically higher across the board.

As per the NPD Group’s recently-released data, Dead Space was the second best-selling game in the United States for the month of January, second only to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. On the other hand, in the UKDead Space’s physical launch sales were less than half of what The Callisto Protocol managed.
