The NPD Group has released its data for software and hardware sales in the United States for the month of January (via NPD analyst Mat Piscatella on Twitter), and on the software front, a number of new releases have debuted in the top 20.

EA and Motive Studio’s survival horror remake Dead Space saw the biggest launch in that group, taking second place in the software charts, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 taking the No. 1 spot. The latter has topped the sales charts for four consecutive months.

Square Enix’s open world action RPG Forspoken saw a disappointing launch, coming in at No. 7. Though only available on two platforms, it performed worse than Fire Emblem Engage (No. 5), another new entry in the top 20 that is available only on one platform.

Meanwhile, Bandai Namco’s One Piece Odyssey came in at No. 9. The Last of Us Part 1 also saw boosted sales driven by the HBO show’s popularity, jumping from No. 36 in December to No. 11 in January. The PS5 remake also saw increases in digital and physical sales in the UK thanks to the TV show.

On the hardware front, the PS5 was the best-selling console of the month in the US in terms of both unit and dollar sales, buoyed by stock shortages having eased up in recent weeks, while the Nintendo Switch followed behind in second place.
