Deadly/Dumb Killzone 3 Antagonist Alien Race Helghast to Have ‘Humanity’

Posted By | On 13th, Jul. 2010

Guerrilla has announced that apart from the slew of new features Killzone 3 will be incorporating, the Helghast, the previously dumb but now deadly alien race that have been the main villains of the series, will have ‘humanity’, despite the striking resemblance and likenss they have to Adolf Hitler’s Nazis.

“Although the Helghast are physically still human, they consider themselves superior to the human race in terms of society and culture,” Guerrilla boss Herman Hulst told Gamepro.

“They possess a mentality that’s similar to how the Nazis viewed those not part of the Aryan bloodline. Helghast look down on humans as weak, lying, and spineless.”

However, Hulst added that the Helghast see themselves as “victims” in the new game – and that the ‘evil side’ of the title’s war is not always clear cut.

“In Killzone 3, we show that even the Helghast have some humanity left in them,” he said.

“We’re weaving a story that has more shades of grey than the trite representation of ‘good vs. evil’… We explore the notion that even honourable soldiers have to make debatable decisions at times for the greater good — or simply for their own survival.”

Killzone 3 will be out in February 2011, watch out for it.
