Ludvig Forssell, composer and audio director at Kojima Productions, said yesterday that he’d be sharing important news soon, and many assumed that that was related to a new game announcement, especially with recent reports that the studio was on the verge of revealing its next game. Forssell has shared his important news, and it’s not a new game.
The Swedish composer has announced via his Twitter page that after 10 years at Kojima Productions (the first five under Konami and the second five as an independent studio), he is leaving and will be pursuing a future as a freelance composer. Forssell has played a crucial role in most of Kojima Productions’ biggest projects since he’s worked at the studio, including Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, P.T., and most recently, Death Stranding.
Meanwhile, an announcement of Kojima Productions’ next game might still be announced in the near future. The studio’s art director Yoji Shinkawa recently said that the developer’s sophomore project could be revealed “quite soon.”
