Death Stranding Will Be An Open World Game

It will also have online elements.

While Kojima still refuses to show us much of his upcoming Death Stranding – how could he, after all, the game technically only just entered development – Hideo Kojima took the stage at Sony’s pre-TGS conference for PlayStation in Japan to present his newly formed Kojima Productions’ upcoming game, and talk a bit about it.

Kojima confirmed that the game will be an open world action game – which is personally exciting to me, given just how well realized the open world was in his previous game, the seminal if flawed Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, but which I realize might disappoint a whole lot of people who were maybe hoping for a more traditional and linear game from Kojima with his next venture.

He also confirmed that the game will have online elements- which, again, is similar to The Phantom Pain, which had FOB and base invasion elements, adding an element of online connectivity to a previously single player only series.

Whether or not this endears the game to fans who feel burned by The Phantom Pain remains to be seen. Death Stranding is due out on PS4 and PC.
