Dedicated PC Gamers Host DOOM LAN Party… On Mt. Elbert

What am I doing with my life?

Posted By | On 25th, Jul. 2014

Doom is one of the all time PC classics. It pioneered PC multiplayer gaming, multiplayer shooters, shooters, and LAN parties. Twenty years later, its legacy lives on, even though Bethesda and id Software are working on a reboot of the series with the same name. And some really dedicated. fans have decided to host a LAN part for the game on Mt. Elbert. Really.

This makes it the highest altitude terrestrial LAN part ever. Which is a highly specific world record, but a pretty badass one. The altitude was 14,461 feet, which is 4,400 meters. So, you probably don’t want to, like, throw your mouse or anything there, or it’d fall a pretty long way.

You can check out the official video above. And between this, the recent speedruns for Nintendo games, the sheer amount of creativity exhibited in Minecraft, and the obsession with Blizzard games, plus MOBAs, marvel at just how dedicated to video games some people really are.
