Along with updating players on potential changes coming in subsequent Faction Rally events for the season, Bungie also offered some vague information on sandbox changes for Destiny 2. Sandbox design lead Josh Hamrick gave a small update on what could be expected in the coming months.
In short, the sandbox team is already working hard and “making good progress” on aspects like Exotic tuning. Jon Weisnewski is in charge of the latter and it seems that the next balance patch will be out in Season 3. A “really exciting plan” is also in the works for Mods 2.0 that will “open their requirements up significantly allowing them to be more potent in ways that you’ll end up feeling directly in your ability uptime and therefore total power output.”
Hamrick also said that the rest of the team is “Hard at work on super exciting new content to put smiles on all your faces before the year is out… And that’s just the beginning.” Of course, these features will take some time to implement.
The main issue arises when major balance changes haven’t exactly been happening ever since Destiny 2 launched. Time to kill, movement, Super and ability recharge rates, buffs to Sniper Rifles and much more have yet to be concretely addressed. It also doesn’t help that the Crucible meta has become incredibly stale, prompting many top PvP players to leave Destiny 2 in droves for other games.
