Destiny 2 – Bungie Teases “Next Chapter” Reveal for June 6th

A reveal of the "new era" for Destiny 2 is coming sooner than expected.

Destiny 2 Season of the Drifter

Season of Opulence isn’t out just yet for Bungie’s Destiny 2, but the developer has already begun teasing the shared world shooter’s “next chapter”. In a recent tweet, the developer said it would reveal the same on June 6th at 10 AM PT. Given the phrasing, this seems to be more DLC for the current game and not a sequel.

This doesn’t mean Destiny 3 isn’t in development. However, given that Destiny 2 only real picked up after the launch of Forsaken, it wouldn’t be too strange to see Bungie expand on it a bit more. The Annual Pass has been its own mixed bag, but the announcement of a major September expansion with a Year 3 Annual Pass might happen.

In the meantime, Destiny 2’s Season of Opulence will begin on June 4th. Available for Annual Pass holders, it contains a new raid, “Crown of Sorrow”, a new 6 player activity called the Menagerie, and new ways to earn loot. It also signals the arrival of nerfs for beloved weapons like Ace of Spades, Whisper of the Worms, and Sleeper Simulant.
