When Bungie revamped the Light level system for Destiny in Year 2, it introduced a change where players would have to equip their highest Light level gear to receive better gear. This system quickly became tedious as players would have to change gear pieces, weapons and what have you for a chance at higher Light level drops.
Thankfully, Destiny 2 seems to have eliminated this issue. As per project lead Mark Noseworthy on Twitter, the game will automatically check for your best possible loadout and (hopefully) offer higher Light level items in return.
Noseworthy didn’t confirm if this applied to items on the player or the cumulative items earned thus far, including those in the vault. Regardless, this seems like a nice quality of life change to prevent players from spending too much time in menus or having to quickly switch gear before receiving a drop.
Destiny 2 releases for Xbox One and PS4 on September 6th. The PC version arrives on October 24th but the beta goes live later today for those with early access. Everyone else can participate in the open beta from August 29th till August 31st.
