Xbox boss Phil Spencer is nothing if not transparent with his fans. He has made it a habit to take to his Twitter handle and engage in public conversations and interactions with fans on the social network over the last few years, and we have seen his commitment to his fanbase come through in these exchanges.
He answered a fair few fan queries on Twitter again, recently- for instance, responding to a fan who noted how Battlefield 3 becoming backwards compatible on the Xbox One had led to a spike in its player population, Spencer noted that that this validates his belief in initiatives like cross platform play and backward compatibility, which are all about keeping games going for a long time with a large player base. On a similar note, he also noted that Destiny 2 is being supported exceptionally well by the Xbox community, saying that this proves the strength of the Xbox fanbase. That said, he did sidestep a question about Destiny 2‘s Xbox One X support, stating only that it is not “his place” to announce anything on behalf of his partners.
Speaking of the Xbox One X, and the potential of players on older models feeling disadvantaged when playing against One X players, Spencer made an analogy with PC players across multiple hardware configurations, stating that this has never been an issue there, and is unlikely to be an issue with the Xbox One X. Spencer also discussed the necessity of having a varied lineup, reaffirming that that was why Microsoft was pushing out Cuphead and Super Lucky’s Tale this year.
Finally, on a far smaller note, he also confirmed that wishlists is a feature that is coming and is on the roadmap, admitting that it is a ‘miss’ that they don’t ave it again already- so, hopefully, this is something we will be seeing coming to the Xbox Store some time soon.
To me this is why cross-play, back compat etc is important. Want to keep older games going with a playerbase that can sustain.

One thing that's been great to see is how the Xbox community is supporting D2, shows the strength of the Xbox player base.

I think it's important that we have games for all players so yes, proud to be able to ship both SLT and Cuphead.

Not my place to announce anything but the working relationship with team is great.

Do people playing on a lower spec GPU on PC feel like they are disadvantaged compared to higher spec players?

Yep wishlist is something on our roadmap, we should have this already, it's a miss that we don't.
