Destiny 2 PC Bans Addressed by Bungie, Not Caused by Third Party Apps

No official statement yet on what exactly is causing the bans for PC players.

Destiny 2 (1)

Bungie’s Destiny 2 is finally available for PC, signaling the return of the developer’s games to the platform since Halo 2 (even though the PC version is actually handled by Vicarious Visions). Unfortunately, several players have reported being banned for no particularly good reason.

Many assumed that this was due to the use of third party apps, namely anything that provided an overlay. That doesn’t seem to be the case though as community manager Cozmo remarked on the forums that, “Third-party applications that aren’t compatible with Destiny 2 may cause the game to not run but won’t result in a ban.”

You may think that Cozmo is alluding to something else causing the bans. But therein lies the rub – Bungie hasn’t really issued any statement on what’s causing them even as many users complain about being unjustly banned. Whatever the case may be, you might want to avoid using any third party overlays or messing about with the game’s config file before playing as Bungie works out what the true cause of current issues could be. Stay tuned for more information.
