Destiny 2: Season of Opulence Will Offer Enhancement Cores Via Gunsmith Bounties

Scrapper Bounties are going away to offer "increased access and control over Enhancement Core acquisition."

Destiny 2 Season of the Drifter

Sick of the current Infusion System in Bungie’s Destiny 2, which requires Enhancement Cores to raise your favourite gear up to higher Power levels and Masterwork them? Bungie isn’t getting rid of them, but will offer a more direct route to their procurement soon. In its recent weekly update, the developer revealed that Scrapper Bounties will be going away and replaced by Gunsmith Bounties.

Currently, Scrapper Bounties randomly become available upon dismantling gear. Completing them would earn Enhancement Cores. When Season of Opulence drops, though, players will instead get daily and weekly bounties from the Gunsmith that will net Enhancement Cores.

“We’re constantly monitoring the infusion economy to see what kind of impact it has on gear usage,” wrote Bungie. “We keep a close eye on the amount of infusion materials being earned versus how many are being used and will continue to make adjustments as needed. To that end, we’ll be making a change in Season of Opulence with the goal of providing more access to Enhancement Cores.”

If you have any Scrapper Bounties remaining when Season of Opulence drops in June, then they’ll expire. “Our hope is that this increased access and control over Enhancement Core acquisition will help improve the balance of materials being earned vs. materials being used. As always, we’ll be continuously monitoring this item economy, along with your feedback to assess its effectiveness.”

Of course, the community is still firm on Enhancement Cores being removed from Infusion and Masterworking entirely, especially considering how many resources must be invested. We’ll have to wait and see if the Enhancement Core payout is significant with the upcoming changes. Either way, the current system isn’t going anywhere until June. Stay tuned for more details until then.
