Bungie have announced that they’re going to be changing the release schedule for the upcoming content drop for Destiny 2, which is the prestige lairs raid. The developer confirmed in an update posted on their site that rather than releasing it in one go, Bungie will be staggering the release for the lairs. This, apparently, is being done to give clans an equal chance to be able sprint through each of them to claim the “World’s First” title in the races.
“Based on player feedback—and to ensure each World’s First race has a clean start—we’re changing the release times of each activity,” senior designer Joe Blackburn wrote. What this means is that the Eater of Worlds prestige will now be rolling out on July 17, 11 a.m. PDT, being delayed by an hour to give players ample time to download update 1.2.3 before they can get to playing, while the Spire of Stars prestige will then launch 24 hours after that.
“I want to quickly reinforce that the Prestige raid lairs are much more about week-to-week variety and less about a singular pinnacle challenge,” the update reads, “but we are still excited to have the chance to watch the best of the best in the community sprint to the finish on both of these activities.”
Meanwhile, Blackburn also talked a little bit about what the Week One weapon loadout and modifier combination will be, and while he didn’t give out any details, he did give fans a few hints. For starters, he mentioned that the modifier, called “Arsenal”, is “brand new” and “weird”. About the loadout, he only dropped a cryptic hint, saying, “I’ve been looking out from my Time-Worn Spire and I feel an Autumn Wind blowing.”
Not much to go on, but at least it’s something. Destiny 2 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
