Destiny Crucible Matchmaking Unchanged, Population Likely Concentrated in SRL

If you’ve been a regular Crucible player in Destiny, you may have faced some rather daunting opponents and less than capable team-mates. Some have speculated that the newest update may have changed matchmaking algorithms for the Crucible. Could the recent addition of the Sparrow Racing League be the cause?

According to Bungie’s Derek Carroll on Twitter, there are, “No new systems for SRL MM. Possible that population is concentrated in the single SRL playlist compared to others.”

Carroll followed up by stating that, “What you’re feeling is likely the effect of SRL on (for example) Skirmish population, rather than any systemic change.”

It’s an interesting point – usually, when events like Iron Banner are around, you’ll be unable to really find opponents in regular Crucible. Another example is when the King’s Fall raid first went live and almost no one was playing PvP.

What are your thoughts on the current Crucible matchmaking and the nature of the opponents/team-mates you’re getting? Let us know in the comments.
