Bungie’s Destiny has been an amazing success not just for Activision but for Sony. Prior to the NPD’s Report, Sony revealed that the online shooter is currently the most played PS4 game with gameplay hours more than 5 times that of the next game.

“Destiny broke PlayStation Network sales records across several categories, taking the top spot for pre-orders, day one sales, and week one sales. One month after the game’s launch, engagement among PlayStation fans continues to soar, as Destiny is the most-played title on the PlayStation 4 system with 125 million hours of gameplay.”

Vice president of Sony Network Entertainment International Eric Lempel also said that the PlayStation Store saw a 90 percent increase in revenue year-on-year in comparison to September 2013. PlayStation Plus subscriber numbers increased by 115 percent as compared to the week before Destiny’s launch; 450,000 hours of gameplay have been streamed of the game using the PS4’s Share function; and the game ranked as number 1 in pre-orders, day one sales, week one sales and first month sales for the store.
