Destiny The Taken King_Crucible 05

Bungie has listened to overwhelmingly negative feedback in regards to its skill-based matchmaking in Destiny‘s Crucible and announced a switch over to connection-based matchmaking for later this week.

Though player skill will still be taken into account, the developer has revealed that January 26th’s Iron Banner will feature the current matchmaking model while January 27th will see it switch over to connection priority. Player feedback and data will be monitored in the interim.

“In light of recent feedback from the community, it’s very clear that we have more work to do. As that work progresses, I’d also like to pledge that you’ll be more included in that process.”

The new matchmaking algorithm has been implemented since October after The Taken King expansion dropped and despite the studio’s denial of skill-based matchmaking, there have been numerous complaints of lag and continuously difficult games for players. Will the new matchmaking changes work? We’ll find out later this week.
