Destiny

Update: Activision has denied this rumor. Please check the latest update here.

Original Story:

As if Bungie’s Destiny wasn’t already facing a storm of controversy over the most recent Weekly Update and content map for the future, sources have been telling VG247 that the developer is all set to introduce micro-transactions for ammo packs in the near future.

Bungie has already introduced micro-transactions into Destiny with Silver as a means of acquiring new Emotes and other cosmetic items during special events like Festival of the Lost and Sparrow Racing League. It had stated numerous times before that it wouldn’t go pay to win.

However, it recently went against that by selling level boosters for various classes at hefty prices. With ammo packs, the key appeal here are Heavy Ammo Synths which can be purchased either from the Gunsmith, Xur, Eris Morn or the Reef for in-game currencies. These can also be used to effectively level up faction ranks since they’re taken in exchange for reputation, thus netting you those Exotic class items.

Take this all with enormous grains of salt for now though, especially since these rumours existed before the launch of House of Wolves. What are your thoughts on Destiny receiving these kinds of micro-transactions though? Let us know in the comments.
