Destiny: Top 15 Things the Next Expansion Shouldn’t Have

There are plenty of things Bungie shouldn't have in future DLCs. Here are a few.

Limited Range of Exotic Gear

The Chaperone, The First Curse, Tlaloc, Boolean Gemini, Black Spindle, Hereafter, the three Exotic swords, Sleeper Simulant and so on are all pretty cool Exotics. Considering Bungie caught flak for many of its previous Exotic weapons in The Dark Below and House of Wolves not being quite up to snuff, it’s great to see such a great variety of weapons, especially when you factor in Year Two versions of Year One weapons.

However, Bungie still keeps things fairly limited when it comes to the gear. At this point, most Exotic gear seems to be, well, geared towards unlocking a sub-class’s perk for free rather than providing anything truly remarkable. The Impossible Machines unlock Landfall for the Warlock’s Stormcaller, Graviton Forfeit unlocks Shadestep for the Hunter’s Nightstalker and the Immolation Fists unlock Explosive Pyre for the Titan’s Sunbreaker. After that, it’s all fairly rote – the Stag provides an over shield on respawning and the ability to charge your Super quick if all your teammates go down, while the Taikonaut adds tracking to all rocket launchers (and somehow disables tracking on launchers that already have it available) while making the radar visible when aiming down sights.

And don’t get me wrong – they’re not completely useless per say. But why isn’t there a wider variety of Exotic gear, specifically to benefit the new subclasses beyond granting a free perk? Where’s The Taken King’s version of Heart of the Praxic Fire or Obsidian Mind for Warlocks or Mask of the Third Man and Celestial Nighthawk for Hunters? Why do Titans still pretty much have mostly useless Exotics?
