Destiny: Top 15 Things the Next Expansion Shouldn’t Have

There are plenty of things Bungie shouldn't have in future DLCs. Here are a few.

Shotgun-Happy Maps

The Drifter. The interiors of Vertigo. The hallways of Memento. Much of the Dungeon. Despite Bungie seemingly nerfing shotguns – and they still have Duck Hunt-levels of range, make no mistake – the rampant complaining against them continues. Of course, it’s now less about nerfing shotguns and more about Bungie’s general approach to map design.

Many could argue that shotguns are not overpowered and that the range pretty much fits the Crucible part of Destiny. However, there’s no denying that maps tend to benefit shotgun users more than anything else. Blame the nerfing of fusion rifle range or the highly situational usage of sidearms but if you’re any kind of Destiny PvP player, then you know that owning a long-range shotgun is the key to victory. And why shouldn’t it be? When you take into account the claustrophobic nature of some maps and their tight corners, why wouldn’t shotguns be the solution?

What happened to Bungie making maps with vehicles that were actually fun? It’s certainly capable of fun long-range maps, as Crossroads and Frontier have proven. Hopefully the next expansion will promote greater varieties of gunplay with its maps. It’s not like we’re completely dissatisfied with the return of auto rifles and the rise of scout rifles but there needs to be more variety and less shotgun traps.
