In an official statement waxing eloquent on the upcoming online FPS, Activision and Bungie Studios finally spoke out about Destiny’s release date.

Long story short, the publisher “reiterated that although Bungie’s amazing new world was revealed today, Activision has not included the launch in its 2013 outlook”. Speculation, rumours and online retailer listings aside, it’s just not on the calendar this year, folks.

What is more interesting is how Destiny was confirmed for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s Playstation 3 “as well as other future console platforms”. This could be taken any number of ways, to assume that a Wii U or PC version is in the works, or even that the game would be arriving for the next generation of Xbox and Playstation.

Regardless, the hype train officially begins now. Hit up our massive information blowout to learn more about Destiny and to see it in action, or sample a piece of the OST here.
