Bungie will be at PlayStation Experience in Anaheim, California in what many assume to be a reveal for Destiny’s next Sparrow Racing League event. However, it seems that before Guardians do battle on speeders, they’ll have to fight for the Iron Lords’ amusement. As per the weekly update, Iron Banner will be returning on December 6th at 10 AM PST and will wrap up on December 13th, 1 AM PST.

Even better is the fact that this time, the event will be Rift. Think of it as Destiny’s terrible version of Halo’s Grifball where players must collect a spark and dunk it in the opposing team’s Rift.

Next week’s Iron Banner will also feature event-specific items for Guardians to rank up and buy, including the Branded Lord fusion rifle, Distant Star scout rifle, helms and class items. Loot can also drop in post-game rewards and go up to 400 Light level.

What are your thoughts on the return of arguably the worst Iron Banner variant ever? Let us know in the comments.
