Deus Ex 4: 10 Things We Want To See

Better graphics

Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s graphics weren’t really bad, and the art style was definitely amazing. But from a technical standpoint, the visuals weren’t very good either. There were a lot of rough textures, tons of pop ins, jagged corners, horrid facial animations, and not-so-good lighting. Of course, they didn’t hamper the gameplay experience a lot, but it wouldn’t hurt to have good visuals. I’m not asking for Deus Ex 4 to be in the league of Uncharted 2, Crysis, Gears of War 3 or something. I just think Eidos Montreal should put in more work tweaking and polishing the technical aspects of the game.

Inventory management should be good

Inventory management in Deus Ex: Human Revolution sucked big time. Items could not be stacked atop each other, there was no way to store items that our inventory couldn’t hold anymore, and it just didn’t feel very organic. With so many items- mine templates, proteins, grenades, guns and other things to store, it felt like more of a restriction than anything else. It sucked. Having the same grid-style inventory in Deus Ex 4 would still be okay, just let us do basic things such as stacking.

Better side quests

Side quests in DX:HR weren’t really bad, but compared to the awesome campaign, they weren’t very good either. They did not always involve a lot of element of choice, and gameplay felt a little restricted sometimes. They were more of a chore than anything else, with the exception of a few good ones. Having well designed, well thought out side quests in Deus Ex 4 will be great. Also, make them longer, make them have at least a little impact on the story, so that we actually feel as if we’re doing something that’s worth the effort and time.

More awesome stealth

Stealth in Human Revolution was amazing, despite the patchy AI. Now, I know Eidos Montreal will not go down the Invisible War rout and make the game more action oriented- no, they’re smarter than that. All I’m asking for is more of the same- more stealth. Using augmentations to make our way around enemies without being noticed was a hell lot of fun in Deus Ex 3, and I’d love to do the same in the next Deus Ex game. And, well, as mentioned above, just improve the AI a bit, and stealth will be flawless, better than ever.
