Deus Ex movie has a new director

Wait, there's a Deus Ex movie?

Posted By | On 16th, Nov. 2012

Man, it’s been a good few weeks for video game film adaptations. First it was announced that Michael Fassbender will star in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie, then it was announced that Tom Hardy will star in the Splinter Cell movie. And now, it’s been announced that screenwriter/producer/director Scott Derrickson will be directing the upcoming Deus Ex movie. CBS Films has made the official announcement.

He will also be the screenwriter for the movie, which bodes well. I guess.

Scott Derrickson is know for directing movies such as The Exorcism of Emily Rose (starring the oh-so-attractive Jennifer Carpenter) and Sinister. The Deus Ex movie is planned for a 2014 release.

Derrickson is pretty enthusiastic about the project. “Deus Ex is a phenomenal cyberpunk game with soul and intelligence,” he said. “By combining amazing action and tension with big, philosophical ideas, Deus Ex is smart, ballsy, and will make one hell of a movie.”
