Developers Will Utilize Full Potential of Xbox One X, The Artful Escape Dev Says

"You can make a great game for the Xbox One, but it’s going to look amazing on the One X."

The Xbox One X is a marvellously constructed machine, the most powerful home console ever made. It is a console that manages to pack in a lot of sophisticated and advanced technology far beyond other competing devices on the market into a compact form factor.

However, the prevailing question about it is- will developers ever actually really bother with the additional power that it offers? Sure, there will be token support for One X enhancements in most games- but will developers really leverage everything the One X brings to the table? Precedence, with the excess power of the N64, GameCube, Xbox, and PS3 all having been largely ignored by third party developers, would dictate not.

However, Johnny Galvatron, the developer behind The Artful Escape, feels differently- he feels like developers will use the Xbox One X’s full potential, to make amazing looking games for the system. Speaking exclusively to GamingBolt, he said, “I do see them using the full potential of the One X. I think it’s going to used primarily for texture size, effects, stuff like that. You can make a great game for the Xbox One, but it’s going to look amazing on the One X.”

There are, of course, things that make the case of the Xbox One X different from the context of the other systems I just named above- mostly, modern game engines and development pipelines are hugely scalable, Microsoft has used uniform, and standardized hardware, and they have implemented development tools and pipelines to help developers scale their games to the hardware as well. So I do see the One X being leveraged more than one might have expected- hopefully, Galvatron is right, and developers push it for all it is worth.
