In addition to acquiring a number of studios to add to the ever-growing first party PlayStation lineup, Sony has also been partnering with newly-formed studios for upcoming PS5 exclusives, including the likes of Haven Studios, Firewalk Studios, and Deviation Games. The latter of the three, formed by former Treyarch and Call of Duty veterans Dave Anthony and Jason Blundell, announced earlier this year that it was going to be working on a new AAA IP for the PS5-and work on that seems to be ramping up.
In a video recently uploaded on Deviation Games’ official YouTube channel, the aforementioned Jason Blundell provided an update on the state of the studio and what lies ahead for it. With the studio now employing over 100 people and having been in pre-production for a while, Blundell confirms that the project will enter full production in 2022. With this game, which is seemingly going to be a first person shooter, Deviation Games seems to be focusing a lot on innovation and on finding “the marriage between game design and storytelling.”
Given the fact that the game’s only going to enter full production in the near future, we can probably assume that it’s still a ways off yet, which means it’s going to be a while before we get any concrete details about it. That said, hopefully Deviation Games will provide another similar update in the future to talk more about the project and how it’s shaping up.
